Did you know that there are more
than a hundred golf courses on Long Island?
This makes it a golfers paradise and a
destination favored by both professional and
amateurs alike. Bethpage State Park's "Black"
course can usually be found among America's
top 25 public golf courses and is considered
#1 in New York State. View our complete list
of golf courses at Link Long Island.com.
If you enjoy playing a round of golf but don't
want to join a club or spend a bundle on greens
fees at a private course, there are many public
golf courses around Long Island. All of these
golf courses charge lower fees for residents
of the municipalities that own them.
Visit Long Island's golf courses
and find out why the U.S. Opens have been held
at the Long Island golf courses of Bethpage
Black (2002), Shinnecock Hills (2004) and Winged
Foot (2006). The Open returns to the Black in
2009.
According to Golf Digest's 2007-08
rankings of America's 100 Greatest Golf Courses,
Long Island alone has six representatives, including
Shinnecock at No. 2. Also listed is National
Golf Links of America (No. 13), Fishers Island
Club (16), Bethpage Black (26), Garden City
Golf Club (56) and Maidstone (72).
